Ayeta, derived from the Yoruba word meaning 'a protective charm against bullets,' is a digital security toolkit designed to help digital rights defenders, journalists, and activists protect themselves from cyber threats. True to its name, it was built to be a protective shield for anyone who needs it.

History of Ayeta
The first version of the toolkit was developed under a 2020 Stanford Digital Civil Society fellowship project, with additional support from the Netherlands Human Rights Fund. ‘Gbenga Sesan, assisted by Boniface Witaba, led project coordination, curriculum development, writing, and editing, with the support of the Paradigm Initiative team.
This updated version of the Ayeta toolkit, unveiled at the 11th Digital Rights and Inclusion Forum (DRIF24) held in Accra, Ghana, between April 23–25, provides up-to-date digital security guidance and actionable steps against potential threats.

Paradigm Initiative (PIN) is a nonprofit organization shaping policy, advocating for rights, and building capacity in the digital space for an inclusive, rights-respecting world. Through digital policy advocacy, capacity building, and research, PIN helps individuals and communities navigate the digital environment safely and effectively.
For over a decade, Paradigm Initiative has advanced digital rights and literacy across Africa, working with policymakers, civil society, and grassroots organizations to bridge the digital divide.
